Innovative Research

We developed and tested a highly effective short-term therapy for prolonged grief. Our research has advanced knowledge about prolonged grief after different kinds of losses and in people of different ages and backgrounds.  Our results have been published in major medical journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association and the New England Journal of Medicine.

Professional Education and Training

We offer comprehensive training in evidence-based treatment for prolonged grief through a variety of training opportunities. We are recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for NYS licensed social workers (#SW-0727), licensed mental health counselors (#MHC-0104),  licensed marriage and family therapists (#MFT-0080), and licensed psychologists (#PSY-0150). We are also approved by the American Psychological Association. Please note that many boards will recognize our events for CE credit as our Center is part of a regionally accredited postsecondary institution. Please check with your state board.

Public Outreach

We use all forms of public outreach to educate people about prolonged grief and its treatment such as social media, e-newsletters, community presentations and public media. Our work has been featured widely in the media, including The New York Times, Parade Magazine,  Pacific Standard, WebMD and on PBS radio and CBS News.
