Private: GriefCare for Families
About Lesson

Bereavement is a major life stressor. You or your child might develop problems with anxiety, depression or substance use after a loss. If you are struggling in this way, you can seek treatment with a licensed mental health provider. There is no evidence that any of these problems should be treated differently if it is triggered by a loss compared to other situations in which they occur.

If you need help urgently you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) – they are available 24/7.

You can also go to your local hospital emergency department or dial 911.

Any time you find you need to talk with someone, you can access the Lifeline Chat. This is a website

where you can message a chat specialist 24/7 who can help you reduce stress and make some good decisions. The website also has ideas for ways to build your support network. Alternatively, you might want to call your health or mental health care provider or contact a close friend or family member.

We are concerned about your welfare. GriefCare for Families is not designed to provide clinical care or crisis management and we want you to get the help you need.
