Prolonged Grief Therapy within the National Health Service setting (UK): A Multiple loss case example – 1 CE Hour

About Course

In this webinar, participants will learn about a nested case-control study to investigate potential risk factors for developing prolonged grief disorder in patients following pregnancy loss. The study aims to further characterize the grief trajectories experienced by patients. Participants in this webinar will receive an overview of the study design and learn about the work of the perinatal loss social work team at Northwestern University. Dr. Ryan will elicit constructive feedback from participants for clinical practice considerations.

Description

Evidence-based treatments for persistent grief are not routinely available in the National Health Service, the publicly funded healthcare system of the United Kingdom. Sarah will introduce the development of a treatment pathway for Prolonged Grief Disorder within the service she is based, and share clinical outcomes from a service evaluation of patients who have been through the pathway. Sarah will illustrate the use of Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy with a case example when working with multiple losses. The case will illustrate the assessment process and choice of therapy for the patient and explore how the model can accommodate working with multiple losses.

This webinar was recorded on May 30, 2025.
