In this 10-module course, you will learn how to diagnose and treat Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) using a simple and effective approach to help clients understand grief, manage emotional pain, imagine a promising future, strengthen relationships with friends and family members, tell the story of the death, live with reminders of the loss, and connect with memories.

This course will develop, strengthen or refresh your knowledge and skills for working with grieving clients through interactive exercises and case vignettes. You’ll also receive access to downloadable assessment measures, session outlines, therapy forms, and handouts for use with clients.

This course was developed and tested in collaboration with the Center for Telepsychology with funding from the National Institute of Mental Health.

American Psychological Association

The Center for Prolonged Grief at Columbia School of Social Work is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Center for Prolonged Grief maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
