Our research group was initiated in 1995 when Dr. Shear first became aware of the existence of a syndrome of complicated grief. Since then we have done extensive work to establish valid reliable diagnostic criteria. We developed and validated assessment instruments to characterize key clinical features of this condition. We developed and tested a short-term psychotherapy that has proven to be highly effective. This section of our website provides access to training in the use of these treatment tools.
You can train with us or learn on your own, or some combination of these. You can purchase the treatment manual and therapy aids we used in our studies. You can earn CE hours by participating in one- and two-day online workshops, completing a self-paced course, watching our training video series and webinars.
